close -John Burroughs’ Birds of April @ 10am - 11:30am
The Audubon Society of the Capital Region will lead an outdoor foray at the Schodack Island State Park in search of the birds of early spring, as we celebrate the date of John Burroughs’ birth. Affectionately known as “John O’Birds”, the renown Catskill naturalist (1837-1921) waxed especially romantic about the “return of the birds”, bringing millions of Americans to a heightened appreciation of nature during a critical period in US conservation history. Bird sightings found along the Park’s gentle trails will be embellished with pertinent quotes from Burroughs’ vibrant essays.
This program is to be held at the Schodack Ilsand State Park, 1 Schodack Island Way, Schodack Landing, NY 12156. It is open to the public free of charge. In case of inclement weather, the program will be cancelled. To register, or for more information, please call Schodack Island State Park at 732-0187.
