The Halloween season is when birds really start "GOBLIN” down bird 
food treats.

Join Craig Thompson of the Audubon Society of the Capital 
Region to learn savvy tips and tricks for starting a simple backyard bird-feeding station. Best bird food choices, winning presentation options and common pitfalls will be discussed.
Bring an empty one-gallon water or milk jug with a screw-type cap to 
make your own simple birdfeeder.

Join our very good friends of the Hudson-Mohawk Bird Club who are hard at work planning the 2015 NYS Birders Conference and NYSOA Annual Meeting in Albany, New York, October 2-4, 2015.

The Audubon Society of the Capital Region will be exhibiting at the conference and we encourage you to check out what is already planned for it here:

So far the weekend includes a keynote by Jon Dunn, chief consultant/editor for all six editions of the National Geographic Society’s Field Guide to Birds of North America, and co-author of the Peterson’s Filed Guide to Warblers and behind the scenes tours of the ornithology collection at the NYS Museum with your registration. Book signings, many interesting field trips and workshops, with published papers, and more!

see details + Bird Walk - "Birds and Brews in the ’Burgh - Fall Edition!" - Middleburgh, NY
Meet at: 315 Main Street, Middleburgh, NY 12122 at 9:00 AM - Bird Walk is Free and Open to the Public!

Join the Audubon Society of the Capital Region and Green Wolf Brewing Company as we celebrate Fall Migration with our special seasonal Bird Walks in the western part of our Audubon chapter area in Middleburgh, NY!

Bring your binoculars as we bird the Franklinton Vlaie looking for migrating waterfowl and songbirds. We’ll be birding along the Schoharie Creek portion of the Long Path as well.
Afterwards, stop by the Green Wolf Tasting Room for a special early opening for thirsty birders to share birding stories and craft beers.
Bring your brown bag lunch from home or buy take out from one of the delicious local downtown eateries to eat with your fellow birders back at the tasting room.

After lunch, if some are up for a short hike - Vroman’s Nose is just down the road and the view of fall foliage across the Schoharie Valley will be spectacular from the top!

A celebration of ALL things FALL including fall bird migration!

Location: Mabee Farm Historic Site, 1100 Main St, Rotterdam Jct, NY 12150

Time: 11am to 4pm

Activities for kids, farmers’ market, hayrides, pony rides, petting zoo, scarecrow stuffing, pumpkin painting, "Local Eats" food exhibition, live music all day, food, drinks, and much more!

Visit our Audubon info table to see what we’re up to here in the Capital Region. Fold an origami Passenger Pigeon and test your bird knowledge with our interactive bird board!We may even have an impromptu bird walk or two on the Mabee Farm trails!

Come see a LIVE owls and birds of prey program starting at 7pm, courtesy of the Wildlife Institute of Eastern New York!

The program is sponsored by the Audubon Society of the Capital Region!
Our Audubon members will be on hand to inform us about conserving and restoring habitat for live birds of prey, songbirds and other wildlife, and you can also learn how you can be a volunteer and help our chapter!
