A preamble to the 36th Annual National Bald Eagle Survey
Yesterday, as a preamble to the 36th Annual National Bald Eagle Survey for the Hudson River Watershed today and tomorrow, our president rode with the NYS Marine Highway tug "Frances", while docking a ship at the Port of Albany. Tug operators and river pilots are daily observers of eagles, osprey and radio each other up and down the river calling out their sightings. Our president and Rob Goldman, part owner and tug engineer for the tug company saw a juvenile and two adult bald eagles opposite the port.
ASCR will ride along again up the Champlain and Erie Canals in the Spring with NYS Marine Highway Transportation Co. and hopefully establish a consistent periodic watch with them. See our Spring newsletter in a couple months for the full story of yesterday's trip!
