Meetings & Events

ASCR has a history of providing a presence at community events. Recently, volunteers have staffed tables at local farmers’ markets, plant sales, and environmental health and safety events. Of special note is the ASCR Annual Bird Seed Sale, which is a major fundraiser for the Society. The Sale and the ASCR Annual Meeting are two of the largest recurring events, but we are always looking for more ways to spread the word about birds.  If event is cancelled or postponed, we will post it here and on our Facebook page.

2025 Annual Meeting:  Saturday, April 26th 10:00 a.m. at Five Rivers Environmental Education Center, 56 Game Farm Rd., Delmar, NY.  Open to the Public.

Bird Walk Cancelled Due to Forecast of Rain

Members and the public are welcome to attend our Annual Meeting.   followed at 10:30 by our presenter, Rachel Bakerian, who will discuss her work with the Peregrine Falcon.

Rachel is a wildlife biologist with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) in Region 4. She specializes in non-game species conservation and management, with a particular focus on the state’s Threatened, Endangered, and Species of Special Concern that occur within the Region. One of the highlights of her job has been working with Peregrine Falcons, both in natural cliff settings in the Adirondacks, Helderbergs and Northern Catskills, and in urban settings in the Capital District and Hudson River Valley.

After the presentation, we will be serving a light breakfast, followed by our annual meeting, which you are welcome to attend.

Cut off date is April 24th.

May 12th- Peebles Island State Park, 1 Delaware Ave North, Cohoes, NY 12047. Presentation on "Bird Window Collision Prevention" at 5:00 p.m. We will conduct a bird walk at 4:00 p.m., weather permitting.
